(Ripley County, IN) – The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls recently in which someone tries to scam registered sex offenders.
Deputies say the scammer will claim the offender has a warrant and needs to pay a bond with a card.
The Sheriff’s Office says they will never ask anyone to pay a bond this way.
Deputies say if you receive such a call, do not give them any information or money.
You’re urged to tell the caller you will verify with your local law enforcement agency, and then call police to check if an officer really contacted you.
