Ray L. Owens, 82 of Mooresville

Ray L. Owens, 82, of Mooresville, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at his residence. He was born on December 6, 1943, in Greensburg, Indiana, the son of Raymond Talmadge and Virgie Irene (Mattix) Owens. He was a 1961 graduate of Sandcreek High School and served in the National Guard. He was a resident of Decatur County the majority of his life and resided for the past 20 years in Mooresville. He was a shipping supervisor at BCA/NTN. Ray enjoyed walking his dog, going to the casino and coaching softball. He loved watching I.U. sporting events and supporting his grandkids in their many milestones. Ray married Judy A. Thompson on May 28, 1972, in Letts, Indiana. She survives along with his daughters, Jennifer (Floyd) Vanvolkenburgh of Greensburg and Mitzi (Tim) Sturges of Morgantown, his sister, Marilyn Cunningham of Westport; five grandchildren, Tasha (John) Cline, Joshua Meredith, Haley Vanvolkenburgh, Tyler Miller and Kaylee Miller; two great grandchildren, Kaden Houk and Jaxson Land. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carolyn Rollins. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport.
