Ralph F. Meyer, 72

Ralph F. Meyer, 72, of Greensburg/Napoleon, passed away on December 4, 2024. He was born on May 16, 1952, in Batesville, Indiana, the son of Donald and Jo Ann Brownell Meyer. Ralph was a 1970 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School. He was a farmer and Cattleman all his life, and he co-owned Meyer Family Angus. He was an over-the-road driver for Batesville Casket Company for 28 years. Ralph was a life member of the Napoleon Volunteer Fire Company, having been on the roster for 58 years in various capacities, including arson investigator and a past fire chief. Ralph was a member of the Smyrna Lutheran Church and a member of the Southern Indiana Angus Association. Ralph was an electrician for many years for Meyerrose Electric, did excavation for Gene Eaton & Son Excavation, a Seed Rep for O’s Gold Seed, and most recently worked at Letts Hardware doing equipment sales. He was created with a Servant’s heart and dedicated his free time to helping the community in many ways.

Ralph was known by many and he didn’t know a stranger. He would always have a story to tell, sometimes multiple times! Ralph loved to watch Jac-Cen-Del basketball games, frequently being heard in the stands disagreeing with the officials – and after the game, he would be one to high-five and congratulate the athletes. He was always supportive and super proud of his grandchildren; he would never miss an opportunity to talk about them and their accomplishments.

He was always a familiar face at the county fair. From being a 10 year 4-H member to becoming a tractor project leader and leader of the Napoleon 4-H Country Club for a total 28 years, Ralph could always be seen around the fairgrounds. He shared his love of cattle with any youth who wanted to learn.

Ralph’s final act of service was to be an organ donor. Based on his donation, he was able to help an estimated 100-150 people.

Survivors include: daughter, Angela Chambers; sons, Steve (Brandy) Meyer and Ryan (Latisha) Meyer; grandchildren, Austin (Hannah) Chambers, Ashley Chambers, Julia Meyer, Logan Meyer, Kaiden Meyer, Christopher Meyer; sister, Susie (Bill) Whitworth; and brother, Kim (Judy) Meyer. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judith Witkemper.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Napoleon Volunteer Fire Company Building from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and the funeral will be held at the Smyrna Lutheran Church on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 11:00 am.
