(St. Leon, IN) – St. Joseph American Legion Post 464 in St. Leon will dedicate the new Purple Heart Memorial on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The stone at the Post’s main entrance honors Purple Heart recipients.

One of the honorees is 2019 East Central High School graduate and US Marine Kelsee Lainhart, who was seriously wounded in a suicide bombing at the Kabul, Afghanistan airport on August 26, 2021.

The dedication program will feature speakers, a 12-man color guard – including seven shooters who will fire off the traditional 21-gun salute – and a raising of the Purple Heart flag over the memorial.

The event is open to the public.
