(Versailles, IN) – The 2026 Versailles Pumpkin Show kicked off Wednesday night evening with the traditional crowning of royalty.
Lawrenceburg High School senior Matao Rico was named King, and McKenna Phillps from Rising Sun High School was chosen Queen.
The King runner-up is Parker Simpson from East Central High School.
Rico’s classmate at Lawrenceburg, Ginger Shod, is the runner-up in the Queen contest.
This year’s King and Queen were each presented a $1,000 scholarship from Ivy Tech Community College.
Ten Southeastern Indiana high schools plus the Southeastern Career Center were represented in Wednesday evening’s King and Queen contests.
The Versailles Pumpkin Show is presented by the Versailles Lions Club, and runs through Saturday.
