(Brookville, IN) – The planned regional consolidation of smaller transportation agencies is on hold.

Franklin County Public Transportation director Missy Ratz recently told county commissioners that the move could be paused for up to a year.

The state is pushing for smaller counties to merge their transportation agencies into regional systems.

Franklin County is set to consolidate with Rush, Fayette, and Union counties plus rural parts of Wayne County.

Ratz says, other than a new name, there will be few changes, including local service at the same level and no ridership fare increases.

Franklin County will continue receiving federal funds for the service through the State of Indiana.
