(Dearborn County, IN) – An Indiana State Police trooper used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to end a pursuit involving a vehicle going east in the westbound lanes of U.S. 50 in Dearborn County early Sunday morning.
ISP says it began around 2 a.m. when a trooper from the Versailles Post tried to conduct a traffic stop on U.S. 50 in Aurora.
The vehicle stopped at first but the driver took off at a high rate of speed westbound on U.S. 50 toward Dillsboro.
Investigators say the vehicle made a U-turn and drove eastbound in the westbound lanes at a high rate of speed.
The trooper used the PIT maneuver near West County Line Road because the motoring public was at risk.
The suspect’s vehicle rolled and she was injured.
That person was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
ISP says the suspect’s name won’t be released until formal charges are filed by the Dearborn County Prosecutor’s Office.
Troopers received assistance from the Dearborn and Ripley County Sheriff’s offices; Lawrenceburg Police Department, Lawrenceburg, Aurora, and Moores Hill EMS; the Aurora and Dillsboro fire departments, and Affordable Todd’s Wrecker Service.
