The Greensburg Boys Track and Field team competed in the IHSAA Sectional Thursday evening at East Central High School and finished 9th with 28 points and qualified one relay and one individual for the regional meet next Thursday at Franklin Community HS.
In the first race on the track, the 4×800 meter relay team of Senior Michael Back and Juniors Reid McClintic, Kevin Johnson and Louis Moore completed the circuit in 8:39.19 for 3rd place and an automatic qualifying spot. The time is 5th fastest in school history and PR splits were recorded by McClintic, Johnson and Moore.
Not to be outdone was Senior Devin Ruble as he exploded out of the blocks to cover the 100m dash in 11.63 and got the lean and qualifier for next week with a 3rd place finish. Places 2-5 were separated by .05 seconds in the photo finish.
Two other PR’s were recorded on the night. Devin Hanna cleared 9’ in the pole vault and finished 8th and fellow Freshman Joey Woods ran 23.93 in the prelims of the 200m dash while finishing 5th overall with a time of 24.16.
Event placers were: 1600m: 6th Jared Hasselbring 4:51.90, 7th McClintic 4:52.91; 4×100 relay: 7th – Jadrian Woods, Joey Woods, Scott Dorsett, Devin Ruble 48.45; 800m: 8th Michael Back 2:11.27; 3200m: 7th Hasselbring 10:45.87; and 4×400: 8th – Michael Back, Moore, Dylan Brown, Jadrian Woods 3:59.81.
