Pirates Track Results At Decatur Central Invite

The Greensburg Girls Track and Field team were very competitive Friday night at Decatur Central’s Joe Schott Memorial Twilight Invitational. Placing 3rd behind Brownsburg and Ben Davis, the Lady Pirates defeated Greenfield-Central, Decatur Central, Tindley, Herron, and Covenant Christian.

The girls placed in all 16 events with a couple of Runner Up Championships and a handful of personal records. The evening started with Cathy Newhart, Morgan Winkler, Julia Ankney and Cami Jones taking 2nd in the 3200m relay and Arie Hampton capturing 2nd in high jump.

The successful night continued as the shot putters, long jumpers and hurdlers all advanced into finals in their events. All the Ladies performed well and really stepped up to some tough competition. Mary West made big improvements in both the 100 & 200 with new PRs. Julia Ankney also dropped time from her previous 400 and Lily Grimes threw another PR in discus.

On Friday evening, the Greensburg Boys Track and Field team finished 4th at the Joe Schott Twilight Invitational at Decatur Central High School. Brownsburg won the team title while Warren Central took the runner-up spot.

The Pirates did take one title on the evening as the 4×800 squad of seniors Reid McClintic, Kevin Johnson, Louis Moore and freshman Hunter Butz won in 8:37.43. The time is a season best for the squad and McClintic and Moore each had relay leg PR’s. The race set the tone for the squad on the evening as the team placed in 14 of 16 events. Overall this was a tremendous night against tough competition.
