Pirates Jackson fifth in shot at track state finals, Trojans Fox Mental Attitude winner

The IHSAA Girls Track and Field State Finals were held Friday at Indiana University in Bloomington. Among the local athletes who competed, only Greensburg’s Emarie Jackson earned a Top 8 podium finish. She placed fifth in the shot put with a heave of 42’5.25”.

Jackson just missed the podium in the discus taking ninth.

East Central’s Hope Fox won the state’s prestegious Mental Attitude Award.

Fox competed in the 300-meter hurdles, long jump, and was a part of East Central’s 400 relay team..

Fox is a member of National Honor Society and Exemplary Honor Roll along with the EC volleyball and basketball teams. She volunteers assiting with East Central’s youth basketball leagues and Read Across America, reading books to the elementary schools in her township.

Hope is the daughter of Joshua and Robin Fox and will be attending Southern Connecticut University to play basketball.

A $1000 scholarship from Farm Bureau Insurance was presented to East Central High School in Hope Fox’s name.
