Pirates Get Victory Over Pacers

The Pirates looked to bounce back Wednesday evening after a tough loss to Hauser on Tuesday night. Greensburg played host to Switzerland County on the 2nd night of their back-to-back-to-back home games and came away with the win, 5-2.

The Pirates saw shots from 11 different players and were in the attack from start to finish. Leading the way for the Pirates was senior Vincent Pavy who scored 2 goals on the evening, pushing his season total to 9. The game got started when Pavy scored off of a cross from sophomore Collin Springmeyer. Moments later, still in the attack, the Pirates were able to get another goal, this time from Nicholas Zapfe, assisted by Dylan Hogg. Greensburg didn’t end the half without allowing a Switzerland County goal due to a penalty kick.

Down 2-1 at half, the Pacers came out of halftime firing, scoring the game tying goal within the first 5 minutes of the second half. From there, it was all Greensburg. Collin Springmeyer assisted again to Pavy to put the Pirates up 3-2. The roles reversed for Pirate goal number 4 as Pavy played a cross into the box where Collin was waiting for the finish. Springmeyer was able to put the nail in the coffin off of a free kick from 25 yards out and push the score to 5-2.

The win puts the Pirates at 3-6 on the season. Senior Night will be tomorrow (9/13) for the Pirates as they take on rival, Batesville.
