For the first time since October 5, 2013, the Greensburg Pirates have won a game. Southwestern traveled to Greensburg Tuesday to play the Pirates and Greensburg emerged victorious 4-2. The Pirates got off to a great start defensively, having their first shut out half of the season. They held Southwestern scoreless in the first half thanks to the effort of senior defenders, Evan Gindling, Kody Newhart and Trevor Lee. Senior goalkeeper Mason Ponsler had 20 saves on the evening to preserve the win for the Pirates. The Pirate attack was lead by Nicholas Zapfe who had 9 shots, 7 of which were on goal. Senior Vincent Pavy scored twice for the Pirates in the first half to give Greensburg their first halftime lead of the season. He kept the momentum going in the second by scoring one more, giving him his first career hat trick. Nicholas Zapfe finished the scoring off for the Pirates by extending the lead to 4-1 before Southwestern scored 10 seconds before the final whistle. All around great team win for the Pirates.
