Paul Francis Heckler

Paul Francis Heckler, 92, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 4, 2017 in Dillsboro, Indiana.

He was born May 1, 1925 in Celina, OH, son of the late Frank and Josephine Heckler.

Paul served his country as a member of the United States Army. He worked in a variety of sales positions before retiring from production management at Navistar.

Paul was a deeply religious man. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and served in the Knights of Columbus. He was a member and loved playing with a local Bridge Club. He tutored students at St. Mary’s Catholic School. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting with his father and brothers. In later years he enjoyed wood working. But throughout his life he cherished family time, traveling frequently to visit with out of town family members.

Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, Doris (nee Lehman) Heckler of Aurora, IN; children, Michael (Sandra Shaw) Heckler of Boise, ID, Ann (Ken) Fetzer of St. Joseph, MI, David (Connie O’Brien) Heckler of Yellow Springs, OH, Mark (Cheryl) Heckler of Crossville, TN, Paula Heckler of Walnut Creek, CA, Amy Heckler of Aurora, IN, Luke (Nancy) Heckler of Lexington, KY; siblings, Mary J MacErlane of Cincinnati, OH, Joe (Vundy) Heckler of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Jason, Brian, Kevin, Katie, Andrew, Steven, Paul, Ethan, Kyle and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Aiden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Josephine (Borger) Heckler, his mother-in-law Josephine (nee Wilkenson) Lehman, brothers, James (Virginia), and Luke Heckler; brother-in-laws, Eugene Lehman, Marvin Lehman, and Paul Martin; sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Nee Lehman) Martin.

Friends will be received Saturday, September 9, 2017, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 203 Fourth Street, Aurora, Indiana. Services will be held at the church at 12:00 pm with Fr. Joe Lehman and Fr. Stephen Donahue officiating. Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana.
