Patricia “Patty” (Kootie) Oney, 80, of Versailles passed away at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2026 at her home. She was born near Versailles on December 26, 1945, the daughter of William Edward Sr. and Naomi Perkins Adams. She was married to Emmett Oney on July 4, 1964 and her husband of 62 years survives. Other survivors include two sons Emmett Scott (Dana) Oney and Matthew John Oney both of Versailles; one daughter Christina Hiett of Friendship; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers Bill Adams of Madison and Bob (Susan) Adams of Versailles; four sisters Ruth Hyatt of Osgood, Linda (Mitch) Pickett and Sherry (Vern) Johnson both of Columbus, and Cindy (Rick) Edwards of Versailles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Shannon Oney Begley, and her sister Vicky Adams. Mrs. Oney was a 1964 graduate of New Marion High School. Patty was a full time stay at home Mom, a position she loved and cherished. She also enjoyed going to yard sales, keeping her house immaculate, enjoying her cats, and being a great Mom and Grandma. Patty loved the Lord and cherished attending home church meetings. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept 22 at 12 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Noel Morris officiating. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
