(Paris, France) – The dream of Olympic gold came to a quick end for Mason Parris.
The Lawrenceburg native lost his opening match Friday in 125 kilograms freestyle wrestling 10-5 to Munkhtur Lkhagvagerel of Mongolia.
Parris had a chance to compete in second chance matches and contend for the Bronze medal if Lkhagvagerel advanced to the finals.
However, Lkhagvagerel lost his next match.
Parris, a Lawrenceburg High School and University of Michigan product, is a three-time IHSAA state champion wrestler at 220 pounds, an NCAA Division I national champion at 285 pounds and winner of the Dan Hodge Trophy as the country’s best college wrestler.
