One Killed in Decatur County Crash

(Greensburg, IN) – A man was killed in a head-on crash on State Road 3 north of Greensburg early Wednesday morning.

Indiana State Police say the initial investigation by the agency’s Crash Reconstructionist indicates a 2017 GMC Acadia, driven by 36-year-old Adam Peters of Morristown, Ohio was southbound on 3 near County Road 300 North shortly after 6 a.m. when his vehicle crossed the centerline for an unknown reason and collided with a northbound 2017 Ford E-350 box truck box truck driven by 39-year-old Jamin Guthrie of North Vernon.

After the collision, both vehicles came to rest partially off the roadway.

Peters was pronounced dead at the scene, while Guthrie was treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Troopers say toxicology tests are pending but drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors.

State Road 3 was closed between 300 North and 400 North near the North Decatur school campus for about four hours during the investigation and cleanup.

ISP was assisted by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, the Greensburg Fire Department, Decatur County EMS, and the Decatur County Coroner’s Office.
