One killed in campground accidental shooting

Orange County, In. — Indiana State Police say a 21-year-old French Lick man was killed in an accidental shooting during a weekend camping trip with friends in Orange County.

Friday evening deputies from the sheriff’s department were called to the Shirley Creek Campground to investigate an accidental shooting.

State police detectives determined a 19-year-old man unholstered his weapon when he thought he heard something in the woods. When he attempted to re-holster the weapon one round discharged and struck Daniel Barrett Allbright, 21, in the head. Allbright was declared deceased at the scene.

Police do not suspect foul play. Details of the investigation will be reviewed by the Orange County Prosecutor.
