One city road project continues, another coming up this weekend

BATESVILLE, IN — Batesville City Council received an update from Mayor Mike Bettice Monday night on the Huntersville Road project.

The Mayor told Council that the stormwater portion of the project is complete, and the section from the underpass to Dogwood Trail has been paved.

The road will need to be rebuilt south from the underpass to State Road 229, with paving to take place there in about two weeks.

Huntersville Road remains closed to thru traffic but is still open to residents of the Timbers, which has been the case since the project began.

Meantime, Dave O’Mara Contracting plans to shut down State Road 46 near Merkel Road on the city’s east side this weekend to replace a culvert.

The work there is scheduled to start at 8 pm Friday and is expected to be finished by 6 am Monday.

Of course, all work is weather-dependent.
