Jac-Cen-Del hosted Oldenburg in volleyball Tuesday. Less the fourth set, it was a very competitive match which saw the Twisters win 3-2 by finals of 25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 9-25 and 15-13.
“The Twisters took the first two sets, but the Lady Eagles did not allow a clean sweep,” recalled Oldenburg AD Patrick Kolks. “Jac-Cen-Del took the next two games, including holding the OA to only nine points in the fourth set. However, coach Gregg gathered the girls and pushed them to be better. After that pep talk, the Twisters won a thrilling fifth set, 15-13.”
“Wow, what a roller coaster of a match,” exclaimed OA coach Debbie Gregg. “After taking the first two games, we felt good, but maybe we just overlooked them and got out of our game. But the heart and toughness these girls showed was just incredible.”
“On back-to-back nights, Jac-Cen-Del fought through slow starts in the first set,” stated Eagles coach Cat Schmeltz. “However, in contrast to the previous contest, the Eagles were not able to walk away with the win. After dropping the first two sets, the Eagles came back with wins in sets three and four. The fifth set saw both teams step up and eventually Oldenburg was able to come away with the win.”
