(Greenwood, IN) — The Oldenburg Academy Twisters boys’ soccer team saw their remarkable postseason run come to an end on Saturday, October 19, as they fell 2-0 to Greenwood Christian in the regional final. The #2 ranked Cougars capitalized on two early penalties in the first half, a deficit from which Oldenburg was unable to recover.

Both goals came from penalty kicks inside the 18-yard box, putting the Twisters in a difficult position before halftime. Despite a determined second-half effort, Oldenburg struggled to find the back of the net, being outshot 23-7 by the more dominant Greenwood Christian side. Twisters goalkeeper Isaiah Waggoner recorded six saves in the match, but it wasn’t enough to stave off defeat.

The Twisters’ appearance in the regional final marked just the second time in the school’s history that the team advanced to the final eight in the state tournament. They finished the season with a 12-6-2 record, capping a successful campaign.

As the team looks ahead to the future, it bids farewell to seven seniors: Hayden Blair, Jacob Hilbert, James Lattire, Christian Mack, Isaiah Waggoner, Henry Wanstrath, and Zach Hoff. The group leaves behind a legacy of three consecutive sectional championships and a deep postseason run in their final year.
