Rising Sun, IN—The Ohio County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents about a recent check scam.
A check was shipped by UPS to a resident. In the shipment, a note requests the victim to respond with a text message for additional “instructions and confirmation.”
Investigators say the check appears to be legitimate and even has security features. Officials say the company the check was written on behalf of had recently reported their bank information had been stolen. If you receive an unsolicited check in this manner contact local law enforcement
