Osgood, IN — The Ripley County Chamber of Commerce held its 2022 Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner Thursday night at Hog Rock Event Center in Osgood.
Retired Milan Community Schools teacher Brenda Schwering was honored as Educator of the Year.
“I was so shocked and surprised because there are so many deserving individuals as far as education is concerned in Ripley County who should earn this award and I am humbled that I am the one selected,” Schwering said.
The Business Persons of the Year are the husband and wife team of Chris and Tara Kelly, who own and operate Kelly’s Hidden Acres Golf Course in Milan.
“I feel like a fish out of water accepting this award because that’s not what we do,” said Chris Kelly. “We want to take care of our people, take care of our community, and just keep on doing what we love to do, and that’s work and be with our family.”
Retired Genesis: Pathways to Success coordinator Cheryll Obendorf was named Citizen of the Year. Genesis:
Pathways to Success is an initiative of the Ripley County Community Foundation.
In addition to the awards that were handed out, Chamber Board President Justin Smith recognized this year’s Board of Directors, and entertainment was provided by “Jukebox Hero,” presented by Show Stoppers Talent Agency.
