OA varsity baseball suffers shutout loss to Trinity Lutheran

The Oldenburg Academy varsity baseball team (4-7) fell 5-0 to Trinity Lutheran on Tuesday despite out-hitting them eight to seven.

“It’s hard to beat a team when we shoot ourselves in the foot multiple times. 6 errors in the field and a couple of mental errors on the base paths is not a recipe for success.” Coach Kolks said after the loss.

A single by Sam Hollis right down the third base line in the third inning was positive for the Twisters.

Clay Eckstein took the loss for Oldenburg Academy. The righty allowed six hits and five runs over four innings, striking out five.

“Coach Hogg and I were happy with Clay’s start. He kept us in the game as best he could. Just needed to give him some more run support.” Kolks added.

The Twisters collected eight hits on the day. Jacob Hoff and Jacob Cornelius all managed multiple hits for the Twisters.

Trinity Lutheran racked up seven hits on the day.

The Oldenburg Academy will finally return home as they host the Milan Indians for Senior Night on Thursday, May 4th. 5 seniors will be honored before the game. They are Cy Muckerheide, Jacob Hoff, Alex Sizemore, Sam Hollis and Eli Bruce. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
