OA girls tennis records setting season ends at Elite 8

Oldenburg Academy Girls Tennis is the first OA team in school history to win a semi-state.  Their season ended at the state quarterfinals in a 3-2 loss to Delta. Oldenburg Athletics photo.

They were only one of eight high school girls tennis teams left standing. Unfortunately for Oldenburg, the Lady Twisters did not advance any further in the IHSAA state tournament as OA fell 3-2 to Delta during Friday’s state quarterfinals at Center Grove.

Emma Back and Mary Hunter won at second doubles for the locals in straight sets and Alyssa Wanstrath took second singles in a third set tie breaker.

Delta’s Gwen Clark was the recepient of the IHSAA’s Mental Attitude Award for girls tennis.

The Oldenburg girls tennis team is the first OA team in any sport to have won a semi-state.  The Twisters finish the season at 21-5.
