North Decatur Varsity and JV Volleyball easily handled both of their games Monday night against Tri High Varsity and JV! Varsity is now 5-4 on the season and JV is now 4-1.
For Varsity, the team won in 3 by playing an aggressive offensive with both strong serves and effective hitting. Ella Kunz put away 10 kills. Madi Allen added 7 kills and 5 aces. Sydney Rohls put away 6 kills and 1 ace with no service errors and Miley Scudder contributed 5 kills and 2 aces also with no service errors. Sarah Moeller and Annie Waechter added 3 and 2 kills, respectively. Kelsey Haley served 2 aces and set up 17 assists to enable the effective offense and setter Laura Guzzardi added 5 assists. Libero Hannah Gorrell served 2 aces with no service errors on the night and picked up 9 digs and 11 serves. Allen also picked up 9 digs and then received 4 serves. Clare Kinker received 5 serves. Scudder was active at the net defensively and put up 3 solo blocks and 2 assisted blocks. Waechter added 3 assisted blocks and Kunz added 1 assisted block.
JV won in 2 sets (25-8, 25-24). The team had a great serving night. Maggie Burkhart, Oakley Freel, and Ellie Johnson all served 2 aces. Zoey Hersley and Ally Whitaker served 1 ace each. Freel, Johnson, and Hersley were all 100% from the service line. Jo Whitaker put away 4 kills and picked up 5 digs. Zoey Hersley had a great night defensively and picked up 8 digs. Gabi Adams, Ally Whitaker, and Brooke Mauer all contributed a kill for the night. Ally Whitaker also picked up 4 digs and Oakley Freel grabbed 4 as well. Anna Mauer and Brooke Mauer both picked up 3 digs.
