North Decatur varsity baseball struggles to keep up in 11-run loss to Tri

North Decatur varsity baseball had trouble keeping up with Tri in a 16-5 loss on Thursday.

The Titans and the Chargers would be tied 3-3 after one inning, but Tri would pull away for good with 4 runs in the second inning to take a 7-3 lead.

The Titans would outscore North Decatur 9-2 in the final three innings to end the game in five, 16-5.

North Decatur totaled six hits in the game. Reid Messer and Tyler Dean both managed multiple hits for the Chargers.

Tri tallied ten hits in the game, with Mason Wilson and Tyler Brooks each grabbing multiple hits for the Titans.

Donny Barnes was the winning pitcher for Tri, allowing six hits and five runs over four innings, striking out six. Engle threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Tyler Dean took the loss for the Chargers. The pitcher surrendered nine runs on eight hits over three innings, striking out three.
