North Decatur Girls Varsity Basketball

Greensburg- In the first home game of the campaign, North Decatur dominated visiting Switzerland County 74-34.

North opened things up early shooting it well, pouring 22 points in the 1st period. Their stingy defense held the Lady Pacers to just 6 points. The scoring attack was balanced throughout the night as 9 Chargers got in the scoring column. Madi Allen scored 9 in the first; pushing the ball in transition and getting her mid-range shooting game going yet again. Kelsey Haley dropped in a dribble drive to the basket and knocked down a three-pointer from the corner. Kinker, Rohls, and Kunz all scored as well in the period.

The Chargers continued their success in the 2nd quarter with Rohls posting up strong and scoring 6 inside the paint. Haley connected on a three-ball from the high wing and Ella Kunz attacked the middle of the floor and connected down low for 5 points, while Allen was three for four from the line.

The Chargers led at the break 41-16.

Senior captain Madelyn Bohman came alive in the 3rd period, connecting on a two nice post moves and slid outside to knock down a triple as well. Kacie Ogden finished off a spectacular 4 point play on way to her six points in the contest. 62-26 after three quarters.

Clare Kinker and Kacey Barker both had excellent games on both ends of the floor. Barker finished with 5 points and Kinker had 2. With the win in hand, Jo Whitaker and Ally Whitaker got some important minutes off the bench. Jo connected on a jump shot to get in the scoring column.

The final score read 74-34 in a complete, well executed performance by the entire team on Wednesday night. The Lady Chargers (4-4) will head north on Saturday to take on the Knightstown Panthers, with JV tip at 11 AM.
