Greensburg, In. — North Decatur Elementary School teacher, Dottie Hellmich is a finalist for the Indiana Department of Education “Teacher of the Year” award.
Hellmich is a 24-year educator who graduated from IUPUI in 1993 and began teaching at St. Mary’s School in Greensburg. She began teaching at North Decatur Elementary School in 1996. Until 2013 she taught sixth graders, fourth graders and gifted students. Since 2013, she has been the technology and integration specialist.
This year, Hellmich earned “Teacher of the Year at North Decatur Elementary School and the district.
The top 10 finalists will be revealed by September and the winner will be introduced in October.
