North Decatur Cross Country Finishes 2nd at County Meet

The annual Decatur County Cross Country Meet took place yesterday and all 3 schools competed for the honor of being crowned “County Champions.” The Chargers finished 2nd behind Greensburg on a night that saw many outstanding times. Below are results and recaps from both the boys and the girls race.

Boys: Leading the way for North and finishing a 1 second away from becoming the individual County Champ was Eli Weisenbach setting a new PR with an outstanding time of 18:15 and earning All county honors.  Also running a tremendous race and earning All county and setting a new PR by breaking the 19 minute barrier was Jackson White crossing the line in 18:55.  Finishing just outside the top 10 was Harper Gunn who broke the 20 minute mark for the first time in his career with a time of 19:38 and setting a new PR as well.  Following Gunn and setting new PR times were Cletus Rennekamp in 20:34 and Sam Cathey 20:43.  Both Rennekamp and Cathey continue to run better and better each meet for the Chargers.  A heard of Chargers crossed the line togther with Clayton Ruf crushing his PR with a fantastic tie of 22:18, Jayden Lawrence 22:23 and Logan Summey in 22:28.  Summey also set a new PR with his run on Tuesday.  Juniors Teagan Striecker 25:58 and Jake Demitt 28:15 also had solid nights for North and continue to provide much needed depth.

Girls: The Lady Chargers came up just short of winning the County Champioship on Tuesday night at South Decatur falling to Greensburg by 3 points.  However, the they were able to place 5 runners on the All County team which is a tremendous accomplishment.  Leading North and completing the 5K in 3rd was place was Dorothy Robbins in 23:52.  Freshman Norah Amberger earned a top 5 finish with a new PR running a 24:25!  A trio of Chargers rounded out the top 10 and All County runners led by Ava Lecher in 8th place finishing in 25:52, freshman Brooklyn White lowered her PR with a time of 26:22 in 9th and fellow freshman Jessie Biltz also set a new PR a top 10 finish and All County with a time of 26:43.  Jewel Verseman 27:18 and Olivia Reisman 27:19 both are returning to form for the Lady Chargers just at the right time of the season.  Emerson Gunn continues her consistent times finishing in 27:43 and Lauren Miller 29:25 and Cecila Barber 29:51 (season best time) continue to provide needed depth for North
