North Decatur defeats Milan to win first Boys Basketball Sectional Championship since 2016

On Saturday night, the North Decatur Chargers accomplished something they haven’t been able to do in 7 years, win a sectional championship. They did just that, defeating Milan in the 2A Sectional Championship game at South Ripley 61-37.

The game was close through the first two quarters, and the Chargers only led by 5 heading into the half. But in the second half, North Decatur put their foot on the gas and never let off, outscoring Milan 30-11 to help them clinch their first Sectional Championship since 2016.

Kaden Muckerheide was the top scorer for the Chargers with 18 points. Ben Riehle was the leading scorer for the Indians with 9 points.

North Decatur will face the #1 ranked team in 2A, Linton-Stockton, in a Regional Championship game at Southridge on Saturday, March 11th, at 7p.

Milan ends their season with a record of 10-16.
