FRIENDSHIP, IN — No one was injured when flames broke out at a home on the 5,000 block of State Road 62 in the Friendship area Saturday evening.

Crews sent to the scene by Ripley County Communications arrived at the scene around 6:40 pm and found fire showing from the front of the house.

Firefighters from Friendship, Versailles, Osgood, and Dillsboro had several challenges in battling the blaze, including the age of the house, the numerous past remodeling jobs that created hidden dead spaces, getting water up a narrow drive, and the freezing temperatures.

The house is listed as a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In addition to the four area fire departments, also responding were Ripley County EMS, Southeastern Indiana REMC, and Wood Excavating.
