(Batesville, IN) – No one was hurt in a weekend apartment fire in Batesville.
Firefighters were dispatched just before 5:00 Saturday evening to deal with a fire at Oakmont Apartments.
Smoke was seen coming from one unit, and crews forced entry into the apartment and contained the fire to the area of origin and were able to prevent further damage to surrounding units.
The apartment was not occupied but a tenant was in the process of moving into the unit.
The cause is listed as an object that caught fire while sitting on the stove, which apparently was accidentally left on and unattended.
