Both Batesville Middle’s 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams advanced to 9-0 Monday with wins over Benjamin Rush.
The BMS 7th won 25-6, 25-14. Coach Angie Ehrman reported Katie Wirth had 2 strong kills. Leigh Hertel, Maddie Haskamp, Brooke Wilhelm, and Ella King had 1each. Serving was led by Caltlyn Fox with 9 points including 7 aces. Eliza Weiler added 6 points with 5 aces, Alexis Gallagher and Madi Meyer both had 4 points. Leigh Hertel, Brooke Wilhelm, and Ella Weber all contributed 3 points while Ella King and Claire Niese chipped in 1 each.
The BMS 8th claimed a 25-21, 25-14 victory. Shelly Prickel noted Ava Walsman scored an impressive 13 service points including 6 aces. Walsman strung together 8 straight service points to start set two, sparking the team, and closed out both sets with her serve. Grace Walter logged 8 points including 2 aces. Jade Martin and Anya Riched each added 4 points. Walter set the pace in the front line with 4 kills while Reesa Zimmerman, Addison Luers and Ava Walsman recorded 2 kills each.
