Nicholas Edward Riehle

Nicholas Edward Riehle, age 82 of Batesville, Indiana passed away on February 8, 2019.  The son of John A. and Loretta (nee: Fritsch) Riehle was born on May 2, 1936 in Sunman.

Nicholas attended St. Nicholas grade school and Sunman High School.  He married Marlene Hoff on May 11, 1957 and they were married for 62 years. Together, they raised five children. He worked at Hillenbrand Industries as a paint technician for 42 years until he retired.  He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Huntersville in Batesville.

Nicholas enjoyed spending his days fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, watching IU basketball and the Cincinnati Reds.  He especially enjoyed teaching the grandchildren how to fish and most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; children, Pam (Tom) Gutzwiller of Batesville, Bonnie (Roger) Huff of Osgood, Troy (Miki) Riehle of Dillsboro and Randy (Jane) Riehle of Versailles; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters Lisa Gehl, Debroh Kay (infant), all 15 of his siblings, Mary Forthofer, Raymond Riehle, Coletta Weber, Amelia Weber, Anna Fette, Edna Suttmiller, Viola Hountz, Herbert Riehle, Romilda Hoeing, Pauline Larmann, Marcella Hartman, Matilda Moore, Wilfred Riehle and John J. Riehle and Sylvester Riehle.

Visitation will be Sunday February 10, 2019 from 4pm – 7pm at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville.  Funeral Services will be on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Batesville followed by a graveside service at St. John’s Cemetery in Penntown.

Memorials may be given to Margaret Mary Hospice and the Heart Fund.
