(Statehouse) – Members of the Indiana legislature took the oath of office during the recent Organization Day at the Statehouse.

On the Indiana House Republicans’ weekly “Around the House” podcast, newly sworn-in State Representative Garrett Bascom of Lawrenceburg said lawmakers will reconvene on January 8 to begin considering new legislation.

“It’s a great honor to be the representative of House District 68 and I’m beyond excited to start this upcoming session,” Bascom said. “As a state legislator, I’ll advocate for greater access to mental health resources, ensure we maintain a strong and efficient justice system, and bring the voices of my constituents to the Statehouse.”

Bascom is a freshman lawmaker who was elected last month.

You can stay informed during the session by going to iga.in.gov, where you can find information about proposed legislation and watch livestreams of committee hearings as well as debates in both the House and Senate.

Organization Day marks the formal start of the 2025 legislative session, which will wrap up by late April.

House District 68 includes all of Dearborn, Ohio and Switzerland counties, and a portion of Jefferson County in Southeastern Indiana.
