New reporting system for employing minors becomes mandatory next month

Indianapolis, IN — The Indiana Department of Labor is now requiring all businesses employing five or more minors, or those age 18 or younger, to report information via a new Youth Employment System (YES).

The YES platform is going live this month and will be mandatory starting July 1. Schools will no longer be required to issue work permits and businesses that do not comply with the new registry system could face penalties of up to $400 for each infraction.
