New manager at Whitewater Canal State Historic Site takes charge next week

(Metamora, IN) – Joey Smith (pictured) begins his new duties Monday, April 17 as manager of the Whitewater Canal State Historic Site in Metamora.

He succeeds Jay Dishman who retired in February after 35 years in the position.

Smith is a 2007 graduate of Wabash College and spent the past four years in the craft brewing industry.

He began his professional career with the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites, which oversees Whitewater Canal and 11 other properties in the statewide museum system.
