Nellie Marlene Manford

Nellie Marlene (Stonebraker) Manford, 90, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in Florence, Kentucky.

She was born September 22, 1932, in Aurora, IN, daughter of the late Alfonso Stonebraker and Gertrude (Hysell) Stonebraker.

Marlene worked as a telephone operator and then as a Salesperson for Sears, retiring after over 30 years of service.

She was a life member of the Life Church (formerly Alliance Church). In her younger years, she was a youth leader. She was in charge of the Jr. department in Sunday School, and President of WMPF (Womens Prayer Group). In her later years she was head of the birthday club. She was very active and faithful in the church, as well as, in her life.

Marlene was an excellent cook and was known for her Mac & Cheese. She loved to entertain family and friends in her home. She loved to shop, read, and sing, she even sang for weddings. She enjoyed traveling. Nellie was a people person, a good listener and always made time for others. She would send cards to people to cheer them up or to celebrate various occasions. She was also a dog lover. She will be missed by family, church family and many friends.

Marlene is survived by her loving spouse of 64 years, William “Rollin” Manford, children, Lori (Dave) Arrell of Columbus, OH, Robin Manford of Aurora, IN; sister, LaVerne Williams of St. Petersburg, FL; in-laws, Laraine Stonebraker of Rising Sun, IN, Gary Manford of Aurora, IN, Douglas (Carolyn) Manford of Aurora, IN, Stephen (Sue) Manford of Moores Hill, IN; grandchildren, Jayson Arrell, and Kacie Arrell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Gertrude Stonebraker; siblings, Pat Stonebraker, Larry “Doc” Stonebraker.

Friends will be received Saturday, October 22, 2022, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Life Church, 201 W. Conwell St., Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held at the church at 1:00 pm with Brother Kenny Hopper officiating.
