Milan, IN — The Milan Community School Board has hired Patrick Murphy as the corporation’s new superintendent.

The school board met in special session Thursday night to approve a three-year contract for Murphy, which goes into effect on July 1.

Murphy is completing his 11th year as Milan Middle/Intermediate School Principal and has been in education for a total of 24 years.

He will replace Jane Rogers, who is retiring after 20 years with Milan Schools.

Rogers will assist with the transition process this spring.

Murphy holds an Educational Specialist degree from Indiana State University and a Superintendent License from the State of Indiana.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hanover College and a Master’s degree from Ball State University.

“I am extremely excited and thankful to the Milan Board of Trustees for giving me this opportunity to serve our students, staff, and community as their next Superintendent,” Murphy said. “Being a graduate of Milan High School, I take great pride in the work that is being done here and welcome the opportunity to continue the wonderful programs that currently exist at Milan, working to build new initiatives that will allow Milan Schools to experience continued growth for years to come.”
