(Greensburg, IN) – The Greensburg Police Department was the lead agency on an active shooter and rescue task force response training exercise last week.

GPD partnered with the Greensburg Community School Corporation, Decatur County Memorial Hospital, and a number of other police, fire, and EMS agencies throughout Decatur County on the training scenario.

Department officials say they’ve taken a proactive approach over the past five years preparing to handle large-scale incidents.

Officers say while they hope something like this never comes to the community, it’s their duty to be trained and prepared.

Greenburg Police are thanking the following agencies and participants: the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office; the St. Paul and New Point police departments; Indiana State Police; Greensburg Community School Corporation Resource Officers; Decatur County EMS; Decatur County Communications; the Decatur County Emergency Management Agency; the Greensburg, Westport, Letts, and Clarksburg fire departments;  Tree County Players; Boy Scout Troops 264 and 2640, and the Greensburg Mayor’s Office.
