Mrs. Shelby Jean Tingle Minch-Garland

Mrs. Shelby Jean Tingle Minch-Garland, age 83, of Vevay, Indiana and formerly of Lamb, entered this life on October 23, 1937 in Port Royal, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of Gilbert Carroll and Leona Raisor Tingle. She was raised in the Brooksburg and Vevay communities and attended school there, later receiving her GED. She was united in marriage to Wyatt G. Minch on February 2, 1955 in Fayette County, Kentucky. This happy union of 40 years was blessed with a daughter, Deborah, and a son, George. Shelby Jean worked for many years caring and babysitting for many local families. She last worked for the U.S. Corporation in Vevay for five years. She loved gardening, embroidery and crocheting, plus was an awesome cook, baker, decorator and avid NASCAR fan, especially driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Shelby Jean loved holidays, especially Christmas and had a collection of roosters. She was a loving wife, devoted mom, granny, sister, aunt and friend. Shelby Jean was a faithful member of the Union Baptist Church at Lamb and loved participating in the Homemakers Club. Shelby Jean died on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 6:25 a.m. at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehab Center in Vevay, Indiana.

 

A LOVING FAMILY

Shelby Jean will be missed by her husband, Benny D. Garland of Vevay, Indiana; her loving son, George Minch and his wife, Rose of Vevay, Indiana; her grandson, Jerry Mahoney, Sr.; her great grandchildren, Justin Mahoney (Casey), Jerry Mahoney, Jr., and Joshua Mahoney and his companion, Calli Rutherford; her great-great-granddaughter, Trinyti Mahoney; her sister in law, Barb Tingle of Milan, Indiana; her brother in laws, Larry Marsh of North Vernon, Indiana, Harold Romans of Brooksburg, Indiana, Dave Hewitt of Lamb, Indiana; her brother in law, Richard Taylor, Sr. of Elrod, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Carroll Tingle, died December 22, 1991, her mother, Leona Raisor Tingle, died May 10, 1976, her first husband of 40 years, Wyatt G. Minch, died August 7, 1989, her beloved daughter, Deborah J. “Debbie” Minch, died December 8, 2002, her sisters, Shirley Ann Hewitt, died January 28, 2017, Lois Anna Taylor, died March 11, 2006, Leora Carol Marsh, died May 19, 2012, and Wilma J. Romans, died May 21, 2016, her brothers, Charles Tingle, died May 26, 2017, Donald Lee Tingle, died November 28, 2009, Earl Wayne Tingle, died March 14, 2008, James Everett Tingle, her nephews, Richard Taylor, Jr., Robert Tingle, Mike Tingle, Larry Carlisle “Charlie” Tingle, and Charles Tingle, Jr. and her great niece, Marlena Taylor, died October 16, 1986.

 

FUNERAL CEREMONY

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., by Pastor Mike Barnes at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, 9306 North U.S. 421 in Madison, Indiana.

 

VISITATION

Friends may visit Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
