
Mrs. Phyllis Marie (Miller) Thomas, age 88, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on August 14, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the loving daughter of the late Philip George Miller and Edith Geraldine (Sims) Clark. She was raised in Cleves, Ohio and moved to Switzerland County, Indiana, during her senior year of high school. Phyllis graduated from Patriot High School, class of 1957. Phyllis attended Ivy Tech Community College in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Phyllis was united in marriage on August 3, 1957 to Marvin Shirley Thomas in Vevay, Indiana. This happy union of over 46 years was blessed with eight children. Phyllis was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, from 1958-1961. She was also employed for Komoto in Rising Sun, Indiana for a few months. She was a former school bus driver for the Switzerland County School Corporation for the Head Start Program from 1969-1970. Phyllis retired after 33 years of service from Plastic Molding Factory in East Enterprise, Indiana. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Patriot, Indiana. Phyllis enjoyed ceramics, quilting, painting, fishing, camping, crocheting, and reading. Phyllis passed away at 9:17 p.m., Saturday. August 29, 2026, at Ripley Crossing in Milan, Indiana.
Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Marcene “Faye” Bruce and her husband, Ray of Rising Sun, IN, Paula Washnock and her husband, Larry of Vevay, IN, Georgina “Lynn” Seal and her husband, Jerry of Bennington, IN, Mary Frances Eversole of Vevay, IN, and Darla Browning and her husband, Bill of Bennington, IN; her sons, Marvin Daniel “Dan” Thomas and his wife, Linda of Rising Sun, IN, David G. Thomas of Patriot, IN, and Dean Thomas and his wife, Bev of Rising Sun, IN; her 20 grandchildren, Katie, Randall, Savannah, Jonathan, Jennifer, Bridgett, Jerri Lynn, Russell, Carla, Kasey, Gregory, Lisa, Michelle, Rachel, Jacob, Jessica, Jodi, CJ, William, and Nick; her several great-grandchildren; her sisters, Violet Kelly and her husband, Louis of East Enterprise, IN, and Lois Fish and her husband, Guy of Rising Sun, IN; her brothers, Phillip Miller of Rising Sun, IN, Dale Miller and his wife, Teresa of Rising Sun, IN, and Charles Miller and his wife, Debbie of Milan, IN; her half-sister, Patty Aldridge and her husband, Ron of Richmond, KY; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lynn Miller of East Enterprise, IN, Cynthia Miller of Harrison, OH, Bernice Koons of Milan, IN, and Gale and Charjeana Thomas of Patriot, IN; and her several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Shirley Thomas, died November 2, 2003; her father, Philip George Miller; her mother, Edith Geraldine (Sims) Clark; her step-mother, Elizabeth (Metcalfe) Miller; her grandchildren, Sierra Dawn Eversole, Edith Kathrine Eversole, Own Lee Eversole, and Kyle Ray Eversole; and her brothers, Thomas Miller, John Louis Miller, Sr., and Harold “Butch” Miller.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery in Patriot, Indiana.
