Mrs. Mavis Carole (VanTyle) Uhlmansiek

Mrs. Mavis Carole (VanTyle) Uhlmansiek, age 72, of Rising Sun, Indiana, entered this life on August 20, 1948 in Milan, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Lawrence Earl and Mary Eliza (Sherman) VanTyle. She attended Cass Union Elementary School and was a 1966 graduate of the Rising Sun High School. Mavis was united in marriage on June 23, 1966 at the First Baptist Church in Rising Sun, Indiana to Mason James Uhlmansiek. This happy union was blessed with two sons, Mark James and Maury Jay and two daughters, Melinda Carole and Melody Caye. Mavis and Mason shared nearly 55 loving years of marriage together until her death. Mavis was employed as the office manager for Ohio County News for 10 years and was later employed as the program assistant for Ohio County 4-H Extension Office for six years. Mavis was later employed for McAlpin’s Department Store at the Tri County Mall as a sales associate for two years and later returned to Ohio County News where she was employed as the office manager for 16 more years. Mavis served as past president of the Parent Teacher Association of Rising Sun and was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Rising Sun, Indiana. Mavis attended Rising Sun Methodist Church in Rising Sun, Indiana. Mavis loved Hallmark movies and watching game shows and enjoyed collecting Longerberger baskets. She enjoyed going shopping especially to hobby lobby and spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Mavis passed away at 4:08 p.m., Sunday April 18, 2021, at the St. Elizabeth Healthcare-Dearborn in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Mavis will be deeply missed by her husband, Mason James Uhlmansiek of Rising Sun, IN; her sons, Mark James Uhlmansiek and his wife, Shawna of Rising Sun, IN and Maury Jay Uhlmansiek and his wife, Kaye of Rising Sun, IN; her daughters, Melinda Carole Kittle of Rising Sun, IN and Melody Caye Alexander and her husband, Andy of Rising Sun, IN; grandchildren, Mason Carlyle, Anna Marie, Duncan Lawrence, Maury Joshua (Jessica), Matthew Jacob, Tristan Alan, Chelsea Ariana, Zachery Alexander, James Gage and Kaden Ayron; her great-grandson, Mica Jace; her sisters, Florence Marie Peters of Vevay, IN, Doris Ann Shadday of Madison, IN and Lois Brooks of Columbus, IN; her brother, Lawrence Leslie VanTyle and his wife, Shirley of Cleves, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Earl VanTyle, died February 29, 2000 and Mary Eliza (Sherman) VanTyle, died January 21, 2008; her infant sister, died November 4, 1932; her brother, Elmer Nelson VanTyle, died August 18, 1958; her sister, Lutha Mae Nieman, died November 3, 2015; her brothers-in-law, Jim Aldred, died May 21, 1975; James Ernest “Jimmy” Brooks, died June 6, 2020, William “Bill” Shadday, died October 21, 2007, Robert Earl “Bub” Peters, died July 16, 1985, and Richard “Dick” Nieman, died April 3, 2007; her nephews, Stephen A. VanTyle, died March 20, 1992 and John David Nieman, died January 10, 1974; her niece, Jama Lois (Aldred) Hayes, died February 6, 2017 and her great-nephew, Jonathan Nieman, died March 11, 2003.

Friends may call 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 22, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 23, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor Corey Potts at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Rising Sun New Cemetery, Rising Sun, Indiana.
