Mrs. Lena Frances (Harmon) McFarland, age 89, of near Pleasant, Indiana, entered this life on February 26, 1933 in Milton, Kentucky. She was the third child born to the parents of, Mary Lee (Foster) Harmon and Lloyd Lee and Lola Mae (Brown) Harmon. She was raised in Trimble County, Kentucky where she attended school. Lena was united in marriage on October 8, 1983 to Donald Eugene McFarland in Chelsea, Indiana. Lena and Don shared nearly 28 years of marriage together until he passed away on August 27, 2011. Lena was a former waitress and cook for numerous restaurants. She was also formerly employed for Buford Manor Nursing Home in Buford, Georgia and Hillside Inn in Madison, Indiana. Lena was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Fairview, Indiana. She helped her husband farm and raise cattle and enjoyed gardening. Lena passed away at 6:16 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2022 at her residence.
Lena will be missed by her sons, Dennis Jefferson Bailey and his wife, Penny of Mulberry, FL and William Darryl Bailey, Sr. and his wife, Connie of Murrayville, GA; her daughters, Vickie Kay Mitchell and her husband, Sam Lewis of Ruskin, FL and Carol Sue Brison and her husband, Donnie of near Pleasant, IN; her step-son, Robert Thomas McFarland of Costa Mesa, CA; her grandchildren, Jason, William, Anthony, Carrie, Darrell, Kenny, Shelly and Jessica; her step-grandchildren, Sara, Steven and Kyle; her 28-great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; 1-great-great-grandchild; her brothers, Gayle Harmon of Florence, IN, John Harmon of Trimble County, KY, Keith Harmon of Trimble County, KY and Steve Harmon of Okeana, OH; her sisters, Nadine McCane of Bedford, KY, Joyce Romans of Madison, IN and Diane Hensley of Carrollton, KY and her several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene McFarland; her son, Mickey Lee Bailey; her father, Lloyd Lee Harmon; her mother, Mary Lee (Foster) Harmon; her step-mother, Lola Mae (Brown) Harmon; her sisters, Ruby Mae Harmon, Ernestine Harmon, Ople Pearl Harmon, Faye McQueary, Byrl Rae Westrick and Virginia Pierce and her brothers, Robert Dennis “Bobby” Harmon, Rodney “Dell” Harmon and Ernest Harmon.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2022, by Bro. Hobert Byrd, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
