Mrs. Florence Marie (VanTyle) Peters, age 90, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on November 26, 1933 in Rising Sun, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Lawrence Earl and Mary Eliza (Sherman) VanTyle. She was raised in Rising Sun, Indiana where she attended Rising Sun High School. In later years, she received her GED through Jac-Cen-Del High School in Ripley County, Indiana. Florence was united in marriage on December 17, 1949 to Robert Earl “Bub” Peters in Vevay, Indiana. This union of nearly 36 years was blessed with two children. Florence was employed for Swiss Market in Vevay, Indiana for several years. She was later employed for Plastic Molding Factory in East Enterprise, Indiana, retiring after 20+ years of service. During retirement, Florence worked part-time for IGA in Vevay, Indiana for a few years. She was a member of the Florence Church of Christ in Florence, Indiana. Florence enjoyed crocheting, knitting, spending time with family, working puzzles, as well as, working crossword puzzles and word search games. Florence passed away at 4:45 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Jo Peters of Vevay, IN; her son, Kerry Peters and his wife, Judy of Madison, IN; her grandchildren, Roberta Marie “Bobbie” Peters of Vevay, IN, Mandy Kay Holcroft (Scott) of Madison, IN and Lisa Marie Brawner (Rick Jackson) of Dillsboro, IN; her great-grandchildren, Andrew Holcroft of Orlando, FL, Allison Holcroft of Madison, IN, Lane Brawner of Dillsboro, IN and Josie Brawner of Dillsboro, IN; her step-great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kanen and Morgan Jackson; her sisters, Doris Ann Shadday of Madison, IN and Lois Brooks of Columbus, IN; her brother, Lawrence Leslie VanTyle and his wife, Shirley of Cleves, OH; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Earl Bowling, Harriet Bovard and Mason Uhlmansiek and her several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Earl and Mary Eliza (Sherman) VanTyle; her husband, Robert Earl Peters; her infant sister; her brother, Elmer Nelson VanTyle; her sisters, Lutha Mae Nieman and Mavis Carole Uhlmansiek; her nieces and nephews; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lewis and Alma Peters; her sister-in-law, Frances Pike White and her brothers-in-law, William D. Shadday, Richard Nieman, James Aldred, James “Jimmy” Brooks, Paul Vernon “Jack” Peters, Ralph “Red” Pike and Jessi White.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024, by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
