Mrs. Barbara Ann (Thomas) Wilhoite


Mrs. Barbara Ann (Thomas) Wilhoite, age 74, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on May 17, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the loving daughter of the late, William R. and Marian Louise (Springer) Thomas. She was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Hughes High School. Barb was united in marriage to Marvin Simpkins in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was later united in marriage on March 10, 1984 to Billy Ray “Red” Wilhoite in Cincinnati, Ohio. Barb and Red shared nearly 31 years of marriage together until he passed away on August 17, 2015. Barb was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana for several years. She was later employed as a server for the Ogle Haus in Vevay, Indiana and for Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, Indiana, retiring in 2015 after 15 years of service. Barb enjoyed gardening, flowers, watching soap operas and playing cards with her cousins. Above all, Barb loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren that she deeply loved. Barb passed away with her loving family by her side at 5:57 p.m., Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.

Barb will be lovingly remembered by her daughters and sons, Rosie Smith and her husband, Keith of Vevay, IN, Troy Simpkins, Sr. and his wife, Hope of Vevay, IN, Rusty Simpkins of Vevay, IN and Heather Wilhoite Vevay, IN; her grandchildren, Karista, Brianna, Torie, Troy Jr., Amber, Faith, Piper, Mason, Abigale, Elizabeth, Billy and Huxley; her great-grandchildren, Bentley, Sawyer, Colstyn, Memphis and Raymond; her sisters, Linda McLean and her companion, Michael Benge of Cincinnati, OH and Lisa Reeves of Vevay, IN; her sister-in-law, Pat Thomas of KY and her several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, William R. Thomas, died July 3, 1993; her mother, Marian Louise (Springer) Thomas, died April 28, 1991; her husband, Billy Ray “Red” Wilhoite, died August 17, 2015; her grandson, Domnic William Ray Wilhoite, died December 3, 2007; her sister, Sandy Nantz; her brothers, Bruce Thomas and Russell Thomas and her brothers-in-law, Michael Dean Reeves, Jimmy Nantz and Roy McLean.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2022, by Pastor Larry Spoores and Tony Spoores, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
