Mr. Robert Wayne “Bob” Reed

Mr. Robert Wayne “Bob” Reed, age 80, of Lamb, Indiana, entered this life on January 9, 1941 in Vevay, Indiana. He was raised in Vevay, Indiana where he was a 1959 graduate of the Vevay High School. He was employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana for two years. Bob was inducted into the United States Army on November 4, 1963 in Louisville, Kentucky and served during the Vietnam War. He specialized as a military policeman and received the Expert Rifle Badge, Marksman Pistol Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. He was stationed at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on October 31, 1969. In 1962, Bob was employed in building maintenance for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana, retiring in 1993 after 30 1/2 years of service. Bob was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and served on the honor guard. He was also a member of the Vevay VFW Post #5396 and the Union Baptist Church in Lamb, Indiana. Bob was also a member of the Diesel Workers Union of Columbus, Indiana. Bob attended the Daytona 500 for 27 years consecutively. Bob was also a caregiver for his parents for several years. He enjoyed socializing and going to the American Legion and VFW, as well as playing euchre. Bob passed away at 10:20 a.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana.

Bob is survived by his brother, Paul Roger “Sonny” Reed and his wife, Karen of Vevay, Indiana; his nieces, Vicki Reed, Paula Hamilton and her husband, Mark, and Gina Pyles and her husband, Everett; several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; his aunt, Jean Romans and her husband, Norman of Lamb, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Henry Reed, died July 15, 2006 and Edith (McKay) Reed, died November 2, 2012 and his nephew, Roger Wayne Reed, died December 24, 1989.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Sunday, June 6, 2021, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment and full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
