Mr. Raymond Kenneth “Butch” Scott, age 83, of Vevay, Indiana, passed away at 2:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2023 at his residence in Vevay, Indiana. He was raised in Switzerland County where he attended school. Butch was united in marriage on August 15, 1960 to Shirley L. Scudder in Vevay, Indiana. This union of over 62 years was blessed with three children, Debra, Connie and Michael. Butch was employed as a cementer and sole layer for the US Shoe Factory, retiring in 1997 after over 37 years of service. He was a member of the Vevay Church of Christ and also served as a deacon. Butch was also a member of Fur Takers of America Chapter 7G of Charlestown, Indiana. Butch was a commercial fisherman in the Ohio River for many years. In his spare time, Butch enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing.
Butch will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Shirley L. (Scudder) Scott of Vevay, IN; his daughter, Connie Christman and her husband, David of Vevay, IN; his son, Michael Scott of Vevay, IN; his son-in-law, Timothy Hoyt of Atwater, CA; his grandchildren, Jessica Hoyt and her husband, Joshua Danel, Michala Hoyt and her fiancé, Christopher and McKenzie Hoyt and her husband, Danny Hernandez all of Merced, CA; his nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law, Betty Scott of Merced, CA.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Sue “Debbie” Hoyt, died July 19, 2000; his parents, Clinton Earl Scott, Sr., died December 27, 1972 and Carrie Leo (Romans) Scott, died March 15, 1984; his brothers, Nelson Wayne Scott, died December 3, 1992 and Clinton “Scotty” Scott, Jr., died December 26, 2016; his sisters, Patricia Ann “Patsey” Scudder, died February 10, 2008, Carolyn Lou Stevenson, died August 20, 2018 and Aldean Jividen, died September 24, 2020; his sister-in-law, Lucille N. (Knaus) Scott, died November 3, 2011; his brothers-in-law, Leslie “Lee” Scudder, died July 31, 2007 and Loren Lee Jividen, died December 16, 2005; his nephew, Private Timothy G. Scudder, died February 23, 1977 and his nieces, Susan Lynn Scudder, died in 1953 and Cynthia F. (Jividen) Jones, died November 13, 2018.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 30, 2023, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2023, by Pastor Shawn McMullen at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
