Mr. Neil Earl Sandrock

Mr. Neil Earl Sandrock, age 76, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on August 16, 1944 in Elyria, Ohio. He was the son of the late Earl and Anita (Gotro) Sandrock. He was raised in Elyria, Ohio and was a 1962 graduate of Elyria High School. Neil was inducted into the United States Army on July 19, 1965 in Cleveland, Ohio and served in the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Expert Rifle Badge. Neil was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 5th Class on August 2, 1968 in Fort Riley, Kansas. He graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in Cincinnati, Ohio. Neil owned and operated Royster-Askin-Sandrock Chapel on the West side of Indianapolis, Indiana for several years. He was employed as a retail merchandiser for Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio for several years. He was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 and also actively served on the Honor Guard. Neil enjoyed boating, riding on his golf cart and socializing with his friends at Willow Haven. Neil passed away at 1:10 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Neil is survived by his sister, Dianne Bornia; his brother, Lynn Sandrock; his nephews, Grant and Glenn Sandrock and his numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Anita (Gotro) Sandrock.

Full military rites will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road, Madison, Indiana, by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396.
