Mr. José Trevino “Joe” Gutierrez, age 87, of near East Enterprise, Indiana, entered this life on March 2, 1929, in Harlingen, Texas, the son of the late, Clemente and Petra (Trevino) Gutierrez. He was raised in Harlingen, Texas where he attended school. Joe was inducted into the United States Army on October 2, 1952, in Harlingen, Texas. serving during the Korean War. Joe was honorably discharged on September 15, 1954, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Joe was united in marriage on September 17, 1955 in Scottsville, Kentucky, to the late, Gladys Williams. He was later united in marriage in 1994 in Warsaw, Kentucky, to Dorothy Katherine Staggs. Joe and Dorothy shared 23 years of marriage together until his death. Joe was a former machinist for International Harvester (Navistar) in Indianapolis, Indiana, retiring in 1985 after 30 years of service. Joe resided in the Indianapolis community from 1955 to 1985 and later moved to the Switzerland County community where he resided until his death. Joe enjoyed farming and gardening and will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. Joe passed away at 12:20 pm, Monday, February 6, 2017, at his residence near East Enterprise, Indiana.

Gutierrez, Jr. and his wife: Sydney of Indianapolis, IN, Anthony Gutierrez of Indianapolis, IN and Andy Gutierrez and his wife: Maria of West Lafayette, IN; his step-daughters: Rinda Reed and her husband: Bob of Vevay, IN and Glenna Nicholas and her husband: Dan of Indianapolis, IN; his step-son: Jeff Staggs of near East Enterprise, IN; his grandchildren: Marcus, Joshua, Stephanie, Jonathan, Mason and Evan; his step-granddaughter: Jackie; his great-grandchildren: Alexie, Logan, Jacob, Cera, Ezra and Samuel; his step-great-grandson: J.J.; his brother: Johnny Gutierrez of Martinsville, IN; his sisters: Mary Gutierrez of Harlingen, TX, Petra Lopez of Denver, CO, Frances Gutierrez of Corpus Christi, TX and Elva Sequnvo of Harlingen, TX and his numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clemente and Petra (Trevino) Gutierrez; his 1st wife: Gladys (Williams) Gutierrez, died April 12, 1981; his daughter: Dora Adkins, died December 31, 2007 and his brothers, Manuel, Alfred, Clemente, Jr., and Jesse Gutierrez.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 10, 2017, at 2:00 pm, by Barry Little at the Fountain Run Funeral Home, 175 Main Street Fountain Run, Kentucky 42133.
Interment will follow in the Fountain Run Cemetery, Fountain Run, Kentucky.
